Ok, to ignore the perpetual grievance being aired here, there are racial disparities in many things in life. Convictions of rape, convictions of armed crimes, members of Navy SEALS, the rosters of NBA teams, employees of tech firms….maybe it just is what it is?

Without Ted’s cartoons, Los Angeles falls into a level of depravity and corruption that leads to the eventual collapse of civilization. We’ll be sorry! We’ll all be sorry! We’ll see!

It is what it is because of systemic prejudice. Look at the broader implications of “… rosters of NBA teams, employees of tech firms…”if you can. That takes critical thinking abilities,

Unions are not in favor, but …" …In most western democratic countries police unionism is accepted by governments. However, the relationship between police unions and their employers (government) and managers is not always harmonious. Given their potential to seriously disrupt ‘peace and order’ and their capacity to fundamentally challenge managerial prerogative, they are generally regarded as disruptive entities. Equally important, they are viewed as bodies that resist reform, acting defensively rather than contemplating the ‘real’ governance changes that have impacted on the provision of policing services…."

You see, that’s a statistic that looks like it says something, until you get on the street level. I can assure you from first-hand experience that the numbers would actually be even WORSE if justice and “law & order” were applied equally across the board. DA’s are aware of those numbers and are doing everything in their power to minimize how bad the situation really is. I do believe that minorities are more likely to be arrested and convicted, but I do not believe the “stiff sentences” angle one bit.

Just for one recent high-profile example, Freddie Gray was a convicted heroin dealer with at least 18 arrests prior to the age of 25. Maybe, if the sentences were so “stiff” as we are constantly told, Baltimore wouldn’t have turned into chaos.
