The US. constitution mandates the two party system with opposing, but irrelevant ideologies, that legislate policies that their patrons endorse, A good measure of their success is low approval ratings from the voters; another good measure is apathy and low voter turnout, so the system is working quite well, Cooperation is for the weak willed, who are trying to curry favor with a large portion of the citizenry and would benefit some of the (shudder) other idealogs, rather than respectfully paying homage to their patrons.. As long as the sun travels around this flat world, our congress will stand fast and prevent action on the imaginary (must be, as as evil scientists have proven it’s real) climate change. Do not be afraid, our exception political system will again prevent anything beneficial to the public.
Ironically, the US has one of the worst Internet access abilities among major industrialized nations. Given that this is a major competitive need, it is sad that nothing has been done about this.
Climate change has been happening on the planet for the past 4.3 billion years. If we removed all humans, the planet will still be getting warmer – for a while and then it will go back into another ice age and then warm again over and over in cycles.
What did Neanderthal man do to warm the planet 12,000 years ago?
Point is we are not causing climate change and I don’t think anyone knows how much we are contributing to it: 0.1%, 1.0%, 10% – certainly not 100%. The industrial revolution could be a contributing factor, or it could be a coincidence.
Either way, it’s happening, and we’re not making plans to deal with it. I’m making plans to open a rubber tree plantation in Saskatchewan.
It already IS affecting internet and wi-fi connections, burninng down towers in wild fires, storm intensity, and other factors, it’s why fiber-optic is replacing above ground microwave. Hmm, back to the days of the first trans-Atlantic cable.
Excellent point, as always, martens. Some of the second-stage deniers (“it’s happening, but who cares”) are just saying “we will adapt.” Yeah, well, good luck adapting your genes in a matter of decades, or adapting to increased hurricane incidence, or adapting to the collapse of civilization when all the fertile areas shift and new areas start feeling droughts.Good luck adapting to that 60 MPH impact.

I believe it was BC who once said, “It’s all due to the internal combustion of tree roots”.
