As an environmental scientist for over 20 years, it is an event that is over due. The self righteous kings of unfunded mandates have egg on their faces in a big way. What makes it all the more infuriating is the fact that they started their do as we say or be fined into oblivion with the full backing of the U.S. government with the clean water act back in the 70’s.
emtc12: you don’t even want to think about all the drums of nerve and other chemical agents the DOD sank off the Atlantic coast decades ago. Remember, it was a big ocean, right?
The problem is miners and corporate actions and innactions over decades, not the EPA who had a just a field “oopsie”. Thousands of stes, an occasional accident isn’t as much a problem as the PROGRAMMED abuses by that same corporate mining structure, and abuse of public lands and government largesse over decades.

Who is responsible for the initial production of these poisons, and pollutants? Yet now we the citizenry are responsible for the cleanup?
