You know what? I think there is a modicum of truth here to what Jen is saying. As a Christian, I get tired of hearing advocates for Christianity whining about the “war on religion.” Yes, there are obviously changes taking place in America’s demographics, and that by design, but the whininess needs to stop.

I wonder if conservatives still read “National Geographic Magazine”? And if they do, what the majority think of the article in the August issue about Pope Francis?.http://ngm.nationalgeographic.com/2015/08/vatican/draper-text.How the editorial tone of NGM has changed in the last few decades! Articles about specific political turmoils and controversies, Climate Change, exploitation and depletion of natural resources on land and sea, etc. seem likely to get the collective blood of conservatives boiling..And there is also in the same issue an article about the “secret” bombing of Laos during the Vietnam era, very critical of the policy. .Everything is politicized these days. Sarcasm and anger are much vocalized, polite euphemisms aren’t as much used, instead right away the cuss words shoot forth..In NGM I notice in recent years that Comments from Readers were increasingly strident in their objection to the so-called political tone of the articles, and that the magazine has shrunk the Letters feature down to nearly nothing. Perhaps it’s a response to those negative letters. .Several big-city newspapers have also discontinued their on-line comments sections because of the escalating crudeness from some readers..Is this a healthy airing of opinions, or is it more noxious gases contributing to a sort of Political Climate Change that is dangerous to our national health?

As Stephen Colbert noted, Reality has a well-established liberal bias. There’s no surprise that the number of scientists who consider themselves Republicans is dwindling to nothing. You can’t believe in evidence-based thinking and be a modern conservative. They have become incompatible.

Republicans are really in a bad situation. They want to win just as much as we do. They certainly have no chance of doing that by telling the truth— the American public is against their positions on just about every issue by like 65-80%—- and that number is growing. Their only hope is that the 1%ers own a huge chunk of the media and a fair number of politicians. Faux is swiftly becoming a laughing stock, Rush Limbaugh is confused as to what he can get away with, even with his brainwashed listeners. And, the bigger problem is that when you have bought a politician, you can be pretty sure that he doesn’t have any integrity issues with switching sides when your side is losing. So, sure they lie, it’s all they have left.

My expectations for the GOP are so lowered, I would be pleased if they could only learn one of these four items of self-awareness. But given the fact that the Conservative Fall-Back position to any criticism is to double down I have grave doubts if they ever can.

“The cartoon got one thing right: it depicted a liberal telling other people what to think and what to do—and from a standpoint of being absolutely right, with no room for any other opinions.”Did you not understand the Caption, “Advice conservatives never give themselves”. Ergo, the suit is a conservative

Telling conservatives they aren’t perfect is something only people who care about conservatives and people who care about the country would do.

They wouldn’t listen, anyway. They’re sure they are perfect.

..I know this is somewhat off topic ,but how can Creationism even be taught in public schools?Isn’t it Bible based? And isn’t the separation of church and state (or,at least, the freedom to worship without state interference ) being nullified by teaching Judaeo/Christian teachings? As a Christian,a vast majority of Christian churches aren’t even preaching Creationism as total fact anymore.Catholics are taught that evolution is God created…so,who benefits from this story being taught? The Bible is the living breathing word of God.Jesus is the light and the truth…selling ‘created in seven days’ insults both the Bible and God….only the 10 Commandments were etched in stone…the rest is up to us..the beginning of wisdom is finding God.Remember,The Bible is not just a how to book, but also,a how NOT to book.Though something can be said for worshiping like a child,as an adult we must put childish things away:Give to Caesar what is Caesar’s and give to the Lord what is the Lord’s…

You’ll wait forever for that; both parties have silently agreed to accept whatever the first tally shows because they don’t want to disparage the system they’ll use to get elected the next time. I have rarely been more disappointed than when Kerry’s campaign folded like a cheap card table the next day.
