Fortunately, we have the dash-cam footage of the “offences” this poor woman “committed”.

Exemplary police work. As can be seen from my url link to the BBC’s website,it has received international accolades, America should be proud of its police force, as ConserveGov above attempts to justify.

Again and again the police seem to think it is justifiable to arrest someone for what they perceive to be such a “disrespectful manner”.

I’m not even sure Sandra Bland was guilty of a turn-signal violation as she claimed to be spooked by seeing the police car suddenly tailing her so she moved out of its way. However, as the video shows, she wasn’t going to argue that point, she was willing to get the ticket and move on. This ‘poiliceman’ apparently thought not.

Sandra Bland should not have spent a second in jail, nevermind three full days, in a new city, about to start a new job in a new state across the country. Who put her there? A Brian Encinia. Now placed on administrative leave’. I trust he will be fired and held responsible.

ConserveGov is a troll and aims to derail proper debate through distraction and misdirection. Being first on every thread is a real tactic as he often gets to set the tone.Ignore trolls like him and concentrate on the real facts.

It didn’t matter if she changed lanes or not, if she signaled or not. The stalker had a badge and could do whatever he wanted. Apparently, it doesn’t even matter if you’re on camera now.

“or was she violating Sharia law for driving while female….”

No, she was violating Texas law because she was driving while Black, female and from out of town/state.That police officer had to put her in her place pronto; how dare an out of state Black woman not know her place?

The video does not show her resisting arrest, she is resisting wrongful arrest.

A by-stander’s video has now also been addedThe official police video runs into over 52 mins and appears to be edited.

I’ve now watched the 52 min video and one can only come to the conclusion that this ‘police officer’ is one *********hole. She’s right, he’s a * who felt “disrespected”, that’s he why decided to arrest her. What an absolute dick.

He’s trying to smell alcohol or drug smoke. Your cig’s a distraction. There are psycos out there & he can’t know which on a random stop. I drove cab, work a liquor store & have done time. No sudden moves, nothing that might be considered threatening. Try calm & polite on both sides.

“Lane violation” is a standard here, used mostly to stop suspected drug transporters who fit a profile. Then the drug dog comes out, I guess to see if the turn signal light bulb is warm?

Legalizing marijuana btw is leading to expense as dogs trained to hit on marijuana now have to be re-trained, or taken off duty. Well, there is still the amount on board, even in-state vehicles.

At least it’s not “DWN-W”, Driving While Non-White, still pretty common aganst groups that vary by state.

Darrin Bell has depicted our reactions perfectly, check his latest cartoon and you will see the reaction from the likes of mdavis4183, louisglutz, Gresch on the left panel, and ours on the right. That’s part of the conversation you should be having with your fellow Americans.

Except it was not really a lawful order. It was lawabuse. It was, on the other hand, an egofull order.Sandra Bland knew her rights, Brian T. Encinia did not.

Can a police officer order you out of your car? Experts weigh in on Sandra Bland caseOpinions divide along the same lines as you depict above:

1)“He certainly has the legal authority to get her to step out of the car,” Stoughton said. “But in this case, if he is exercising his authority because she defying his direction to put out the cigarette, then that is more based on his ego than public safety…. Just because it is legal to order her out of the car doesn’t make it a professional approach in modern policing.“

”“This is a systemic problem with policing,” Stoughton said. “There is emphasis on compliance over cooperation.”

2)““The officer here acts very appropriately up until the time he says can you put out that cigarette and she asks why she cannot smoke in her car,” Obayashi said. “He then says, ‘I need you to step out of your car.’ Under Supreme Court doctrine he has the right to tell her to step out of the car. But then, as she refuses and he struggles to get her out of the vehicle, he threatens her with a Taser.” – Here no specific mention that Enicinia is abusing his authority, just “acting appropriatly until”…

3)““People don’t appreciate the danger of escalating a situation with law enforcement,” said Charles “Sid” Heal, a former L.A. County sheriff’s commander and force expert. “If a person believes they have a case, wait until after jail and sue. You don’t want to escalate the situation to the point the officer feels threatened.”” – I have a problem with this opinion…Enicinia initially escalated the situation, not Sandra Bland. Blame the victim.

4)“Retired Los Angeles Police Capt. Greg Meyer said Bland’s behavior led to the result.” – Here is Blame the Victim full on

That article clearly shows your country’s problem.Only 1 former police officer recognised the problem clearly, Stoughton.

She obviously either had mental problems or attitude problems.
