I keep trying to get my 11 yr old to sign up for the first Mars mission. If she starts now, she’ll be close to 30 and in her space flight “prime”.She’s too smart for me. She knows it a one way ticket and thinks I’m just trying to get rid of her.
With kibbles, milky bones, and the dixie cup phones, it seems as though the mission to Mars is good to go without ever leaving the yard. Good job, astronauts Red & Rover!
If you took the earphones off of two rocket radios (a ubiquitous toy in Red’s era) and connected them together you could speak into one and a buddy would hear your voice in the other — worked over quite a distance. I didn’t believe it till I tried it for myself!

I love the hole in the face mask for the can and string and who needs opposable thumbs when you can hang on with an ear.

I remember us doing this with the cups and the strings. What I don’t remember was if it actually worked or did anything at all.
