The supreme court did nothing to the confederate flag, Chip. That was Republican governors, finally embarrassed by the disgusting excesses of their rabid supporters. And the states don’t have to “bake a gay wedding cake.” They just have to stop dictating to American citizens who they can and cannot love. This would be a no-brainer for conservatives, in a world where conservatives actually believed in what they say they believe.
Then why were the big stories earlier about businesses that followed their religious consciences and not bake a cake and thus sued by gays? Sounds like a forced agenda to me by gays to locate Christain owners and drive them out of business. Why not find a baker that WILL bake one for you? You have the thought that if you’re not served then they should quit. Sounds like the new crusades by me by you militant gays.
You DIDN’T answer my question about why not go to a baker that WILL bake your cake? Why would you want it made by someone that doesn’t want to do it for you? By MAKING them do it shows your militant agenda towards them. Besides, there IS still freedom in America and a business has the right to refuse service to anyone.
Wait a few years and all of this turmoil will amount to nothing. We’ve had same-sex marriage in Canada for a decade or more, and we just don’t have these problems. Everyone will say, “What was all that fuss about, anyway?”
Left out of most accounts of the “Cake Baking” incident was the Reason for the Lawsuit:The bakery had Accepted the order for the cake only to Cancel it much Later when they discovered that the customers were Gay.So much later that it was too late to order one from Another Bakery..The Bakery maliciously Waited until the last minute to express their homophobia..They weren’t being Sued to force them to bake the cake. They were being Sued for the malicious way they “Cancelled” the order..
Gay is not a race. Gay is not a color. Gay is not a religion. Gay is not a national origin. There’s only one more category left in your list. Is that what you’re saying gay is…a disability?
I just think of the species, plant and animal, that ferilize themselves, then there’s the wrasse that changes sex based on environmental conditions. God indeed made some strange things, like well, bigots.
What kind of “religious freedom” requires the denial of others’ freedom? Not Christianity with its “respect the rights of others as you want yours respected”, and other religions have similar commands.
I believe that anyone in a business open to the public should be required to serve anyone who comes in unless they state on the outside, in large, bold letters who they won’t serve. They should also be allowed to refuse to do or make anything that is offensive to them, but is NOT based on who or what the customer is. In other words, if I don’t want to make a penis cake, I must refuse to make it for anyone. If I make it for one, I must make it for all.

lonecat: My problem with PianoGuy24 is that it implies that there are at least 23 more.

What a shame to have the First Amendment suddenly become law.
