wrong character – the elephant does not represent conservatives but republicans – so please get that straight in your political cartoons – the conservative/constitutionalists those who are somewhat nonplussed by SCOTUS decisions are so (imho) because SCOTUS has once more taken state’s rights away without truly applying the constitution – which SCOTUS seems to have been doing over the last 50 years. basically over stepping their authority, if we base their authority on the original definition of the supreme court when the supreme court was formed. however, as all things in the world have gone – so goes the USA – decisions in all three branches of government are based now completely on what they can get away with, based on their own opinion or general majority/politically correct opinion. not based on a document or of oaths taken to uphold the constitution, but now based on precedence set by other judges and rulings from other courts even in other countries (especially European) that suit/reflect their own desires to change the constitution.so SCOTUS reflects the other branches of our government in the sense that it considers the USA to be a democracy and not a republic and therefore doesn’t have to have decisions truly based on the black and white of the constitution to rule on the case, but simply on an opinion somewhat loosely based on some possible word or phrase in the constitution, which somehow gives authority to their overly emotionally charged writing and decision and to their own personal beliefs.or as the executive branch of the government has declared in example for us to consider – ‘we will only enforce the laws that we agree with’.-whether good or bad – whether happy or sad – it is what it is at this time. and so we will deal with the outcome of these decisions – will they destroy or will they bring everyone back together. divisiveness seems to be the order of the society today under the disguise of ‘inclusiveness’/‘tolerance’ which these words have come to mean your opinion doesn’t count unless it is the opinion of the majority/politically correct, no matter how much you need to be bullied or coerced into having the ‘majority’ politically correct opinion.

The Supreme Court has off and on ruled against States’ Rights many times, including the Dred Scott decision where they ruled that “free” states could not enforce laws that tried to do an end run around the Fugitive Slave Act. The South was against “states’ rights” on that one.
