Maybe? The Confederate flag represents racism plain & simple. You might as well argue that the swastika represents German pride & has nothing to do with the Holocaust.

Why? I guess because they defended it in the last election cycle while campaigning in those states.

That’s hilarious. Have you been asleep for the last fifty years? Of course the Democratic Party used to be the home for racist bigots, but that all changed in 1962. Now look where groups like the Council of Conservative Citizens give all their money, and look which party is actively blocking the voting rights of minorities.

gotta love those presidential candidates who say it is a states’ rights issue, not a federal issue. states’ rights issue over the years: segregation, jim crow, slavery, housing, and etc…

Yeah, why are the Republicans stumbling over themselves about taking down the Confederate Flag on the South Carolina capital grounds or any symbol of the Confederacy in the south when it is linked with the flag of the Southern Democrats (the founders of the KKK)… which star on the Arkansas flag stands for Clinton’s time as Governor ? I mean the Republicans should be leading the charge! How could Republicans allowed this symbol of oppression, treason, Southern Democrats (the founders of the KKK) to be flown on state capitals for so long? Enlighten us Gresch.

The Southern Democrats left the DemocrtaIC Party enmasse starting in in the 60s and became the Republican base. Google Southern Strategy – a plan by the Nixonians to win the South for the GOP- AND IT WORKED! The South is now solidly the responsibility of the Republican Party!

As for the cartoon, leave it on – it highlights your thinking SO well! (MMM-fresh-roasted elephant – I can’t wait!)

I don’t like what the stars and bars represent to some people: but it represents different things to different people. The swastika in asia is a symbol of peace and friendship. It doesn’t represent hatred or intolerance. Should we outlaw buddhists and daoists from using it? The instant that we begin to outlaw SYMBOLS because they are offensive to some is the instant that we lose the first amendment liberties of ALL.

BUT, hasn’t the Stars & Stripes represented slavery, segregation, Jim Crowe, lynching, ectThere is some truth to that, but the US was not at it’s core founded to preserve slavery or discrimination. The Confederacy was.

Most all of those “Southern Democrats” are dead OR switched parties. They have nothing to do with today. Don’t change the subject.
