One thing that I noticed about Editorial Cartoonist Clay Jones is that on the list of Political Slants of such cartoonists by gocomics he is very properly listed as “in the middle”. I have noticed this myself as one day he seems to support one slant anf the next sometimes the direct opposite slant. Personally, I consider this to be the best of such cartoonist over all slants!!
For a long time I was open to listening to those who didn’t believe that the climate is changing. I hadn’t made up my mind and I was open to both sides. So I read the posts of skeptics and I went to the links they provided. But over and over I found that there was really nothing to what they were saying. They often misunderstood or misrepresented the scientific arguments. I’m still open to reading good skeptical science, if there is any out there, but mostly what I hear from deniers isn’t worth much attention. There’s a lot of good science that does suggest that the climate is changing and that people are responsible for a lot of that change. There’s not much on the other side.

Read the so called evidence. There has been no increase in temperatures in almost 20 years despite those so-called “incriminating” increasing ppm CO2 numbers. Gee, d’ya suppose there isn’t a connection between the two after all? No one has proven that connection actually exists and is the smoking gun. By the way, what has happened to the prediction that 60 million people would be displaced by rising sea levels… supposed to have happened by now but oops, a no-show. Then, there was that one that predicted an open water polar region by now? Again, another no-show. Remember that little Micronesia island that was predicted to be under water soon? Sorry Charley, it’s actually gained 30% more land mass. And, the increasing salt water intrusion in Florida is being caused by the fresh water aquifer that is dissolving the salt strata under Florida and is causing subsidence…. the gradual sinking of the surface land. Global warming? Nope! Just too many humans using way too much water.
For the record, I believe there is climate change. And, man is certainly responsible for some portion of that although the amount is debatable. So don’t bother trying to insult me by using the “denier” label. I’m a realist! Prove your theories! And if you can’t they are only unsubstantiated guesswork.
As an atheist with a great deal of contempt for religion, I’d say Pope Francis is still the best news to have come out of the religious world in the last fifty years. Certainly he’s the one using scientific rationalism while the climate change deniers are the ones who are shutting their eyes and ears as tight as they can to facts…acting in typical religious fashion, in fact.

That guy in the white also seems to indulge in humility, modesty, and forgiveness. Clearly out of touch with those who have decided they know better.

I respect his right to say it – even if the Earth is in a cooling period now, and has been for about 20 years.

Pope Francis does indeed have a degree in science – not an advanced degree, but more than his critics have.

Actually, the Pope WAS a Scientist before he became a Priest.
