Arlo: Hand me the...uh...where are you?!
Janis: If you call me when you need me, I can do other things!
Arlo: It doesn't work that way!!
Janis: Men can be so needy!
When you finally get in that awkward position with your elbow just right to turn the wrench, it doesn’t help to have to get up and go find your assistant.
Arlo doesn’t know how to deligate. We had a plummer and his helper working in our house. The helper didn’t just stand against a wall and wait for his orders. The plummer knew what he needed before hand and asked him to get it before starting the ‘next step’.
Why? You’re helping her by doing what she asked you to do. Do you need a cheerleader or a supervisor? She needed a helper. I’m sure she’ll be thankful for your help later! I know I am of my husbands assistance!
:) David…. I know that feeling. My wife does that all the time (she ask for help, I drop what I am doing, go to whatever she is doing, and within about two or three minutes, she is thinking about and doing something else, having “drifted” onto something new).
The purpose of the helper is to save time. Many times, two people at the same job can do it in less than half the time of one person.
Having to call for the helper and wait for the helper more than cancels out the time-saving benefits, plus introduces needless frustration. Better to have no helper in that case.
That’s why it “does not work that way”. It has nothing to do with egos, men, women, or Venus and Mars.
Be there where you’re close by using your phone or reading a book so when he asks for something you can get it for him.If you want to fold clothes bring the basket in where Arlo is working.
Question: If one man can dig a hole six feet wide, six feet long, six feet deep in two hours, how long will it take 120 men of equal skill, strength, height to dig the same hole???Answer: It can’t be done using all of them, they will get in each other’s way.

Guilty . . .and needy right now.

Again, Arlo thinks of his assistant like a surgical nurse. And Janice is a multitasker.

I really really really dislike Janis. I hope Arlo divorces her and she winds up married to Les Moore.

Our manhood is at stake when we have to be handymen. We need both support and an admiring onlooker

According to the above comments, I believe I can say (with many exceptions I’m sure) that men can be such whiners.

…so you haven’t figured it out yet? She wants YOU to do it, not to ‘help her’ do it…

I agree Janis. I know mine is but I love to feel needed so it works out.

We women multitask. No time to stand around and wait. Just whistle when you need me. I’m not far away.

Those chores that she can’t get done? Give them to Arlo when he’s done with having her stand there stroking the never satisfied male ego.
