So sad, so so sad. Poor Izzy. My youngest son and I raised and bottle fed 2 little kittens found under our Catalpa tree, approximately 2 weeks old, eyes weren’t even open yet. Our Vet is amazed at them now. He said we “done good” with them. The “Bros”, Blackie and Little Bit are now 3 years old and devoted to each other. Reading these strips has caused me to stop and think what will happen with those 2 when that day comes.
This is an amazing way to not only work through your grief, but to also document for both your family, and your faithful readers.
I can relate to your situation as we are slowly collecting a shelf full of tiny wooden boxes, and just last year lost two of our furbabies in the same month.
Though it is never easy to lose them, to have lived without them would surely have been more of a tragedy. I hope that you will eventually find the peace that you so richly deserve.
Hi, Frank!Nearly same with Dry and Dusty and my cats. I got and raised four two-weeks-old siblings – Johnny Räuberle, Paulinchen, Blitzi and Margie. When Johnny Räuberle died, the rest of three was missing him, but they were still three cats. When sweet Paulinchen died the rest were searching her for more months but they still were two cats. When one is eating the other is waiting and watching til the one is ready and then eat the other even though the have their own feeding dishes. When both are outdoor and I call them to come in, both come in; when I let them out, they both jump out into the garden. When sleeping the both sleep the same time each one in its own cosy place. Not thinking what will happen one day when one of the both will leave forever. And this time to go the way to the rainbow bridge may be nearer than expected, for both are 16 years old. No, I do not want to think about this possibility.
Thank you Frank for letting us take this journey with you, I hope the fact that you are not alone in your grief will ease your heartache. Our thoughts are with you, as always.
Thankfully, my two cats, brother Half-Stash Clyde and sister Cuddle Bug, are young, about two now, so we should have them for at least another fifteen years. They are strictly indoor cats so they’ll last longer. They were rescued by my daughter’s group, being found together in a dumpster. She nurtured them until they were old enough to be spayed/neutered and adopted out and we took them. They are totally devoted to one another, always wrestling or playing or sleeping together. When one goes it will be terrible, but as @Laurie said, it would have been far worse never to have had them.
If anyone needs a kitten fix, this is it. It’s a live 24/7 cam from Shelly, a volunteer at a Canadian shelter. The mother and kittens, now 7 weeks old, will all be altered before getting homes. There’s a FB page for this and past litters so you can follow them as they grow. Also there are many videos clips of them on YouTube. This site usually features a pregnant stray cat and continues with the birth and growth of the litter. Very fun to watch.

Izzy, I am grieving with you. I miss my darling Dale so much that sometimes I call Tyler by her name….and he looks nothing like her at all!
