Like when Satchel described a book as having a lot of references to someone named “Les” and Rob told him it was a French-English dictionary. This while Bucky was looking at the centerfold in “Cat Fancy” magazine.

Post-modern pretty well describes a phone book. Do you remember the last time you used one?

Yes, but it will take you a while to realize that two of them went out of business years ago, and the third… well, it will work, yes, but if you read the reviews in Yelp or Angie’s list you would never hire that one.

At least it’s realistic. “It’s almost done and I’m still waiting for something to happen” pretty much describes most of our lives, doesn’t it?

well….. after all, most books have either a strong plot, or characters, or a sense of time and place. most don’t really have all 3

Someone stuffed a new local phone book in the ‘paper box’ under the mailbox this year, I guess since the paper box is always empty…? I stuffed the phone book in the wood stove, a few pages at a time…
