“Shia militias are assembling east of the Iraqi city of Ramadi to prepare for a counter-attack against Islamic State militants who captured it on Sunday.”
‘Ramadi battle: Shia militias near IS-held Iraqi city’
Ramadi, and the Anbar province, is Sunni. I think that’s why Lisa Benson is scoffing at the idea of Iran helping Ramadi. So why would the Iranian-backed Shia militias step in to help? I suppose because IS in Ramadi is a step closer to Baghdad and still a major threat to the Shia. Self-preservation is still key here.
The Iraqi military seem reluctant to fight for their country, despite American brainwash…..er training. Could it be most don’t really care which political party rules their country? (Almost like Republican vs. Democrat.) They see fighting on the side of the Americans as partly fighting for American interests, and why would they do that? Maybe they long for the good old days under Saddam who, while not a good guy, in fact ruthless, gave them stability. The Baathist/Sunni ISIS rule will give them the same stability as did Saddam. Unfortunately ISIS will be at least as ruthless, but sectarian rather than secular as under Saddam. But that’s the unintended consequence of stupid invasions. If the Iraqi military are not committed, as appears to be the case, look for another American loss in another misguided attempt at nation building.
Iran has been in Iraq since the Obama pullout, leaving a newborn democratic government to be the target of every Jihadist plan to take over. Iran tried for 10 years to gain control of Iraq, that Is history, when Saddam defeated Iran.-Obama’s doomed to failure “Mideast policy” gave aid and comfort to the Muslim Brotherhood long-term goal of doing Jihad until they rule the world. The Mideast is not a pretty sight to people who believe in liberty and peace.-Obama Foreign Policy= sabotaging blood-bought progress of giving Mideasterners the choices of better government systems to replace oppression by dictators and tyrants.Every US military verteran who gave the ultimate sacrifice for Freedom should haunt this American anti-patriot president, IMO.
Disgusted American, yes you should be, because the anti-patriot president you speak of was Bush 43, with his trusted staff of traitors and money-grubbing thieves.
One of my best friends, and best kids ever, died on her second tour, because she was betrayed by that entire administration. My son is disabled for life because of that adiministration and their false wars, based on revenge only “necessary” because his dad screwed the same pooch.
You have made every effort to indeed be disgusting, but not “American”. If you were a patriot, you, like me, would have called for the impeachment of Bush and Cheney, and as that failed, it’s still not to late to indict them for the war crimes they, and their staff, notably Wolfowitz, Perle, Feith, Rumsfeld…

Iran is helping because a jihadistan in West Asia is good news for nobody – except Warshington’s great ally Saudi Barbaria.
