My understanding is that we couldn’t overthrow Saddam or get to him was because his govt was controlled by close family members and his inner circle couldn’t be penetrated.
Is the execution of another ‘uncle’ a sign that his total control is eroding? Seems like once there is a small leak, the dam might burst pretty quickly.
He/they are sitting on a population with not a lot to lose.
