    So what! there is no penalty for paying early. Unlike buying a home that takes 20 years or more, when you die your kids will sell it at the drop of a hat, and for way less then what you pay for it. Of course you’ll want the bill for the loan to be passed to the tax payer and graduates go on partying the rest of their lives. Some future.

    No penalty for paying early, sure, but how many can afford to? I know it took me nearly a quarter century due to spotty employment and repeated penalties.

    I resemble all four of those. Just graduated last summer after 7 years but I was off and on taking classes since 1995. Better late than never!
