Come on Val, you can work through this. Love is stronger than fear.

The phrase “You’re not getting out of this THAT easily!” comes to mind.

(Wonder how many Weddings the Hospital’s Chaplin does?)

My short (and often non-existent) memory—did I miss where/when they actually set a wedding date?

Hey pelican47…… I’m with you…. A date?? My memory says they never set a date either! OR did they say something about July? Now you got me thinking. I’ll have to read back strips later today.

I once saw a tv show where the groom got into a major accident & he made the ambulance take him to the church to say his vows before going to the hospital, he insisted!

“My wishful thinking: Phil will fall in love with a caring (and later loving) nurse or doctor and marry her.”Jan wouldn’t do that to us. Her readership would die, en masse.

Oh no….indefinitely? I agree with her mom….this is all the more reason to get married now and not wait. Life is short and precious.

I just found the two strips that referenced July 2015 for a wedding date. Unfortunately being middle aged housewife I have no idea how to post them. They are March 4th and March 9th. I know most of you will be able to post them. Thanks!!

Not everyone can easily remarry after losing a spouse, especially if that future spouse is in a life threatening career.

June, take your nephew home and forget Val. She is not the One. She is afraid of life and not all that into Phil – not enough to be brave and conquer her fears. But due to concerns over readership, I know Jan Eliot won’t bump off Phil which is too bad. I think Jan picked the wrong guy for Val. Find her another Wally – gentle, predictable guy with a boring job.

Right now Val doesn’t even deserve to have Phil. But I think Jan made this arc to create some character growth in her. This is about Val and her ability to deal with her demons and learn to love someone. Her mom, Alix and Holly are needed once again. Let’s hope that Val’s lack of caring is only temporary. And if she really only wanted to marry the strong virile guy on the motorcycle as opposed to the guy on crutches or in a wheel chair, then she is really lacking.

not sure if hedonist is exactly the right word. Basically she’s way too wrapped up in herself. I find it surprising that she feels guilty being glad that it was the other guy (at the accident scene) who was killed and not Phil. That’s normal. What’s not normal is handing over the man you love and plan to marry to his mother to care for while convalescing instead of wanting to do it yourself. I really hope Evie, Alix and Holly will knock a little sense of caring into her.
