You will have plenty of chances to talk about the socialist party platform…when you are living in a van, DOWN BY THE RIVER!

@WiseOrator – You could be quoting right out of Das Kapital When you talk about wealth and privilege being used to exploit the masses.

There will always be Doofuses like Bernie the Shill who will tell people they would be successful if it weren’t for that other group over there holding you back: Marx had the royals, Hitler had the Jews, Bernie (and you apparently) have anyone who is successful in today’s economy.

Nobody is oppressing the masses. Many (in the masses) aren’t successful because they failed to develop marketable skills. Globalization and excessive regulations made it unprofitable to do a lot of jobs in the US so companies took their production to where they could get the work done most profitably (Which is what their shareholders demand).

But Bernie sounds an awful lot like Marx which does scare many of us who have studied the untold death and misery the Bolsheviks visited upon the Russian people. We don’t want that to happen here.

Bernie offers an actual “different” view as an independent from the other folks, especially the Libertarian alternative to the majors, it’s a breath of fresh air, actually. You don’t have to agree with him on all issues to relize he actually cares about people, the country, and truth, not just anyone’s corporate masters, Dem or Rep.

Sadly, Bernie scares the centrist Democratic establishment as well. I like him the best, but fear that enough of “our” side would fail to support his bid. I’d rather have him in that office, though.

@WiseOrator – Let’s separate political positions from compassion. I don’t know how much you give to charity, help your community, etc. And I doubt you know that about me given your statement. I’m all for charity and helping the poor when it’s voluntary. I resent it when the government holds a gun to my head and says you will help this group or that group regardless of what I think of their actions and behaviors.

We conservatives don’t expect everyone to accomplish the same things in life. But we do expect people to live within their means and support themselves.

If your skill set only brings in minimum wage then you probably won’t be able to afford a mansion and a fancy car. If you want those things you should develop a skill set that will allow you to get those things.

Most of us work with our local school districts and then supplement that education at home. I’m not sure what your point is there.

I’m not anti-tax. I’m all for taxing citizens to provide legitimate government services that all can enjoy: Education, Defense, Infrastructure, Parks etc. I am not in favor of taxes that are used to establish someone at an arbitrary income level just because they failed to develop the skills to support themselves. The moral hazard associated with that activity has been evident in Baltimore, Ferguson, New York, Chicago, etc. etc.

We have developed a dependent class that feels they are entitled to live like their neighbor whether they earned that living or not and they expect to be able to do it at their neighbors expense.

You have a narrative of Rich White Guys making money while nobody else can survive. There may be a few but most of us started with very little but worked hard in School and then in our careers to establish ourselves so that we can support ourselves and our families.
