Something over 5,000 dead, so far, not to mention the destruction of centuries old relics and infrastructure, and yes, the questions, and coverage, in U.S.media is indeed, how many Americans affected?

Even if a airliner goes down anywhere in the world, it’s how many Americans on board?

My son and I have friends and family in other countries. When earthquakes hit Christchurch, my concern was for my friends there. His friends are in Europe, Central and South America, and the Middlle East. When the world has a problem, we think of the people of the world, yes, some we know, but because we know THEM, we share concern for ALL the people affected by events.

Our extremist nationalism has turned America emotionally isolationist, at the same time we interfere with peoples’ lives around the world. Closed minds call for closed borders here, as we ignore those borders overseas.

    Just food for thought.
