The media doesn’t cause the problem, they just focus on reporting on the dramatic events rather than the underlying causes. It takes a lot of work to dig out the issues while it is easy to question a mother who’s child just got murdered.
There has been systematic brutalization of the poor community in Baltimore. 10,000 people marched peacefully. Many people stopped looting or prevented violence. So who does the media zero in on? A dozen jerks who don’t get it.
I was watching MSNBC last night, and then a bit of Hyena News, just to see how they compared. O’Reilly was sooo disappointed that there wasn’t mayhem.Impressive how there was a line – of citizens – in front of the cops, facing out to the people milling around.
Some of you might have seen the video clip of the mother who went and got her son out of the rioting when she saw him on a news broadcast throwing stones at the police. The video is great. He has his hoodie on and his backpack, but from his build he looks to be about 13-14. His mother is seen charging up to him, grabbing his hoodie, giving him a couple-three good whacks on the hood and obviously ordering him home, and taking NO backtalk, NO nonsense. I generally don’t approve of doing that to a youngster that age, but for young black men, mothers need them to be more afraid of mom than they are enamored of the street toughs. As was noted by the scores of commenters, he didn’t resist her, he just backed away and headed off away from the problem area. They CHEERED this mom, noting the love she showed her son by risking her own safety to go and get him out of a trouble he was in no way capable of handling. One who identified himself as a former law enforcement officer said that that’s exactly what is necessary to stop this sort of violence (along with clearing out the agitators): family members getting involved and calling those doing this stuff on their stupidity.
Yes, they die all too easily from a few bullet holes or broken spines. How dare they keel over dead only to cause the police problems! Then their families and friends want to get all upset about it. They are the problem for sure.
