Dana you’ve portrayed what is wrong with America today…in part…and that is, “Profits Beyond All Understanding” and an unjust taxation system (Not, in the whole, government employees—of whom we do not have enough of to do and accomplish government work as it should be done.) Your error then was in not having a caricature of a corporate “Robber Baron” lying next to the IRS caricature with who they are in cohorts with…but in light of your wealth and those corporations that publish your work and to whom you are indebted too…that is easily understandable even though it is wrong.
The fatcat Congress is playing games with this phony issue, assuming you can’t divide the number of bonuses by the number of employees and see how small each bonus is, or what a small percentage of the overall IRS budget it is, or how little that amount of money would do to increase customer service.
Which has always sucked, even when it was fully funded. There have been many stories about how you can call in one time and get one answer, call back with the same question and get another. For them to hire people who actually had accounting backgrounds would put the budget over the moon — you might as well ask your brother-in-law as ask the phone jockeys they can afford, even in good times.
Meanwhile, the bought-and-sold rightwingers are more concerned with decreasing the level of audits. If they funded audits at a decent level, the deficit would shrink, but it would sting their fatcats owners, so it ain’t gonna happen

I try to pay as little as possible because I don’t like to send good money down the bureaucratic drain.

You do understand that $60 million is like, well, nothing, right? That’s like what it costs to pave 10 miles of road.
