Interesting turn of events. Maybe, DoubleUp WON’T get shot by Tracy or Sam, after all (but we can still HOPE, can’t we?)

Well, Tracy is surprised to see Doubleup, but he hasn’t killed him or anything. Sydney will probably at least be relieved now that Tracy finally knows that the “big boss” is Jimmy Choo Shooz. At least that gives him something to go on if he know wants to look for Jimmy (which I’m sure he does). Of course, the only problem is that Doubleup (with Blaze) and Tracy (with Sam) are too late to find Jimmy there. Jimmy has already fled the scene. Maybe they know where Jimmy might go next.

But what of Johnny Adonis?

Uh … I mean Fontane?

Odd that Jimmy wouldn’t use a silencer …

… Unless maybe that wasn’t his gun that went off?

I’ve lost track….is Doubleup legally out of prison at the moment?

Slim tells what he knows, but it’s not much, except for Jimmy’s name. How will Tracy (and Sam) handle the sudden appearance of DoubleUp? And how will we get out to the lake?

Good Saturday morning DT fans. Will Doubleup say he was driving by and got curious? Maybe say he and Fontane are old friends? Will he provide good info to Sam and Dick? Will we find out tomorrow? Have a beautiful weekend my friends.

Re-reading today’s strip, I suppose it’s implied by Tracy’s question that Fontane is further fodder for the Death List [Try saying that five times fast!] though the phraseology is somewhat ambiguous.

Mayhap Sunday will bring clarity.

The bookies at the two joints we’ve seen appear to be brothers.

What’s Double up doing? Is he trying to get arrested? Arrested?

Even if he’s on parole, I don’t think Doubleup is in danger of being arrested. This looks like a “legit” bookmaking place (Otherwise Captain Renault would be there—shocked to find gambling going on) He’s not carrying and in a legit business—possibly on legitimate business…..

I think Doubleup is trying to make sure Jimmy Choo Shooz becomes the sole target of Tracy’s investigation and not the entire Blackhearts organization, not that it will do any good at this point.

Gesundheit.

Why would Jimmy Choo Shooz need to murder for money after he pulled off the Billion Dollar Ltd heist? Seems out of order to me. Like he would need to do this before for financing.

This fellow that Tracy is talking to is called “Slim”. He was in the front of the other betting office when Corky was killed. (April 29) What’s he doing here? Does he work at all of the sites? If Jimmy Choo Shooz pulled this at Corky’s office, certainly Slim would have been alarmed if he walked into this office just a few hours later.

Who is Fontane??

There is a Pig on Wheels (sort of) over at Brevity today.

Okay, so we have someone who must be Slim’s brother – remember Slim was left in charge at the first place, so he’s not going to be going over to the second one.

Also, take a look at the one appearance of Tommy O’Connor of the 1924 heist from the April 22 strip (I don’t know how to cut and paste it here). It does not seem to be the same person as Slim, but there’s enough of a resemblance for there to be a connection between O’Connor and Slim as well.

It’s funny that the best lead Tracy has on either the gold robbery or the murder comes from Doubleup.

Of course he WOULD say that in a betting place, wouldn’t he? I’ll take that bet, that bet!

For it’s a good thing for Tracy that DoubleUp didn’t have his whip on hand. Tracy’s back was turned to the door—a clear opportunity for DoubleUp!

Nobody has mentioned that the gang members, Slim and Corky are names found in Gasoline Alley. Corky is the son of Walt Wallet and Slim is Walt’s grandson-in-law.

Yeah, I thought of that but I didn’t want to say it. It’s a lot of work to design brand new characters for a single appearance. “Brothers” is a good cover story.

Yeah, but BB-Eyes wanted him to stay there and secure the scene. This is literally only minutes later, so it’s not reasonable for the guy from the first one to suddenly appear at a different one.
