It’s never easy to go to a body of water on a nice day when the body of water still has time to warm up.

I remember that when I was younger I (and my siblings) went swimming near Mount Baker in a lake of water on top of a sheet of ice. Years later, I don’t understand how I did it… or why.

I love comic strip physics! Looks just like Daffy Duck realizing he jumped into a boiling kettle.

Alix is obviously not like the Russian woman I have seen in a video. She dove underwater in the Arctic…stark naked. And stayed under for an incredibly long time (buddy breathing with the safety diver helped). Of course, I think she’s nuts for doing it in the first place.

Looks as if somebody else is learning how to walk on water.

Also it may depend on what part of the country you live in. Here in Florida, though it may get into the 80’s and low 90’s in April, we generally don’t get into the water till May or later, because we’re not conditioned to the Polar Bear life.

Alix, care to learn about Polar Plunge fundraising events? The people who jump into the icy water in those small above-ground pools know well in advance how cold the water is. Or the water in Whitmore Lake, Michigan, if a Polar Plunge event is held there.

Some of the good folk in Milwaukee like to fellowship in Lake Michigan on New Year’s Day, as I recall.
