What a treat. The Explorigator is a masterpiece. Thanks Peter!

I’m disappointed that not a one of those great Aeroships of the Modern Age is emblazoned with “Minneapolis in ’73!”…

Could this be considered the first steam punk comic strip?

I’m fairly sure there were earlier strips that qualified for steampunk, but The Explorigator might be the first where it was the entire theme of the strip.

I’m using weasel words because there were so many strips back then, and I’ve only seen samples here and there. We actually have quite a lot of them today (just look at how many are on GoComics!), but not in papers.

No infringement issues in those days.

I’m looking forward to next week! I’ve found books with early “steampunk” stories, and now I’ll get to read an original comic strip.

I always thought it would be fun to go on an airship cruise.(As long as it wasn’t filled with hydrogen.)

A blimp on the right has “57” on its side. Does that refer to Heinz, or what?
