If this same standard is applied to Mr. Cruz, since one of his parents was an American citizen, he is a naturalized American citizen and eligible to run for office.
It would be a shame if moderates and liberals were to treat Mr. Cruz the way conservatives continue to treat Mr. Obama’s claim to citizenship. Being born abroad, WITH foreign citizenship, even if dual, means he wasn’t “natural born” in the U.S.. Yes, his mother’s citizenship does apply for other purposes, but not running for President. It’s also interesting how Cheney had to rush back north and give up his Texas homestead rights to meet the law for running as Bush’s Vice President.
