Dumbest idea from Starbucks ever! Who wants social commentary about race with a cup of their overpriced coffee? And, that idiot Michael Brown case, no matter that all of the forensic evidence & witness testimony found the officer shot in self-defense after the thug tried to grab his gun, and no matter that the grand jury found the officer not guilty, & the witnesses that allegedly saw his arms up changed their stories, no matter the FACTS, Starbucks is still promoting this as a “kid” who was “surrendering” was shot by an evil white police officer, disregarding ALL EVIDENCE, & disregarding the FACT that Eric Holder’s justice department found NO EVIDENCE of racism in the actions of the cop, & yet Starbucks continues the charade. Incredible. If they are serious about discussion, how come their are NO STARBUCKS in heavily populated black areas like Ferguson? Hmmmm, do as I say, not as I do, ….the mantra of Liberals.

I am not familiar with what this is about, but judging by comments the past few days, it appears that Starbucks employees are either encouraged to or not restricted from discussing events that can be considered political in nature, or at least are controversial.

As a business owner, I learned long ago that there is no value in promoting a position which may alienate any potential customers/clients/patients. So I see no advantage to the Starbucks strategy, if I understand it correctly.

Somewhat on the subject, though, I would wonder what Mr. Ramirez (and other posters) would think about the common practice of putting the Christian fish on advertisements for businesses. To me, this is very much the same thing. And it leads to some interesting circumstances, like the local lawyer who specializes in divorce, yet promotes himself with the fish symbol at the same time.

caribou probably thinks starbucks’ business plan is awesome – since it should send customers their way in this area of the country – like i want someone handing me a “coffee” at 6 a.m. and asking me if i’m racially prejudice/challanged. -man, at that time in the morning and any other time of the day i am getting “coffee”, all i want is you to hand me my “coffee” and say thanks for being a customer or make some inane comment about the weather. -if i want ‘social challenge’ i will come to the political/social cartoons like this one and read the crazy comments – not buy coffee

I have to say Mr. starcandles really hit the nail on the head in the first comment of the day. " If they are serious about discussion, how come there are NO STARBUCKS in heavily populated black areas like Ferguson?", this is the problem with people spouting their views and NOT backing them up with actions. Real easy to say the police should do this or that and not do this or that when you are in you safe gated community. It also is not just liberal whites pulling this BS, I wonder how much Al Sharpton or Rev. Jesse Jackson have invested in poor black neighborhoods?

Republicans/Fox “news” viewers don’t believe there is such a thing as global warming, evolution, or police brutality or racism within any police department.

But they “know” for sure that there is widespread, undetected voter fraud.

Great toon!!!Starbucks and people who think the criminal thug Michael Brown was just standing with his hands up, are equally stupid!I’ve been to a Starbucks twice in my life and both times felt ripped off for paying 6 bucks for a cup of coffee not even as good as my 20 cent cup I brew at home. After this liberal attempt at lecturing on race, I will never be going to a Starbucks again!
