I think this strip is evolving to become more about brother Leo. Perhaps the name should be changed to “Francis and Leo.” If the trend continues, then “Leo and Francis.”
Originally queens were the weakest pieces on the board, then queen Elizbeth asked her advisors if they saw her that weak and in response the queen was changed to the most powerful piece.
It would be hard to keep up any strip with only one character. Leo opens up endless ways to reflect the values of the main character. He has also taken on a life of his own. He keeps the strip from getting too serious. If it isn’t fun, especially when the message is serious, it fails.
