A careful study conducted by the Public Commission for the Improvement of Young Persons reveals the shocking fact that supposedly harmless “hoops” are, in reality, the vanguard of a shocking array of social ills, including alcoholism, cigar-ette smoking, and exposure to rag-time music, with its insistent beat that turns young men and women into raging beasts! Prudent parents are hereby advised to beat those hoops into plowshares, lest their child take up with the lower elements of the community. Remember: You can’t spell “oops” without coming perilously close to also spelling “hoops”!

It’s interesting that Nemo was apparently so popular that he had cartoonists trying to compete with the same basic idea. I’m surprised that Bill’s parents aren’t trying to wake him up.

That’s quite a collection of oddities he has in his cell. It’s no wonder he has strange dreams.
