BB Eyes was quite surprisedThat Jimmy boy would need some timeQuite dependable was that ladAlways perky and never sadIt didn’t bother BB muchJimmy had a Midus touchAll he touched he turned to goldHe got that way by being boldThat Jimmy had a full proof gigIs what he’d tell the mighty VigLike mom apple pie and VistaBillBB knew Jim would make a MillThis overweight geek might look the foolBut making money made everyone coolPerhaps the band can tag alongThe Blackhearts play professional songsA bigger cut in store for the groupIf BB keeps them in the loop

I hope this one is more popular than yesterday’s was. I feel bad I let John and everyone down. Please forgive me!!

Villains smoke in this strip, good guys don’t. Come to think of it, DT never smoked, save when he went undercover in the very first story!

Are we ready to play; I posted this exactly 5 years ago today, *WHO AM I?*

    .

“Gould could both draw and tell a story. Near the end of the 1970’s, they replaced Gould with a team, and some of the teamwork wasn’t that bad. But Locher can’t do either, and his best makes the worst of Gould’s least efforts masterful in comparison.”

BB-Eyes is being awfully nice today. That’s all I can say! (Maybe he’s actually being honest. That part is hard to say.)

BB-Eyes probes for a tip on Jimmy’s scheme. Jimmy fends off his probes but perhaps also misses a subtle warning. Twice, BB-Eyes has told him (panels 2 & 3) to keep the Blackhearts in the loop: they have specialists, fat man; know what I mean?

    Morning, Tracyville!

Jimmy is going to regret going to BB Eyes when BB Eyes informs the Blackhearts and then the Blackhearts demand a cut in the bullion robbery.

So BB-Eyes is a loan shark as well as his other duties. Jimmy is in debt to the wrong man.

“That Jimmy had a full proof gigIs what he’d tell the mighty Vig…”

    “Don’t worry about the vigorish.”

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vigorish

“Vigorish, or simply the vig, also known as juice, the cut or the take, is the amount charged by a bookmaker, or bookie, for taking a bet from a gambler. In the United States, it also means the interest on a shark’s loan. The term originates from the Russian word for winnings, выигрыш vyigrysh.1 Bookmakers use this practice to make money on their wagers regardless of the outcome. To minimize their risk, some bookmakers do not want to have an interest in either side winning in a given sporting event. Instead, they are interested in getting equal betting on both outcomes of the event. In this way, the bookmaker minimizes his risk and always collects a small commission from the vigorish. The bookmaker will normally adjust the odds or the line. The concept is also sometimes referred to as the overround, although this is technically different, being the percentage the event book is above 100%, whereas the vigorish is the bookmaker’s percentage profit on the total stakes made on the event.”

Thanks everyone for the congratulations. My son is beaming and my daughter-in-law is smiling and overjoyed. Freya Wren Toler was born this morning weighing 8 lb. 6 oz.

Now I’ve got to keep the 4-year-old for a week while mommy recovers and bonds with baby. Too much energy!

Sadness mixed with bitternessCreeped across Dick Tracy’s blissNever could he have a restWhen out the door departed TessSo little time alone they sharedThe price they paid when trouble nearedAt times he wished a different wayHe chose to get a weekly payHe knew they both did freely liveLives that forced them much to giveThey’ll be together forever some dayBut tell the chief he’s on the way.
