In the years leading up to, and after the Great War of 1914-1918, many politicians, writers and activists decried the arms race of all industrialized nations as leading to wars. Hey, if you have the ships, guns & men, why not use them?It’s worth noting that every nation (except Germany) embarked on arms limitation agreements; but it didn’t last very long.
