“It IS rather scary that that facist jihad-bent government will likely have the bomb before the end of 2011”
Considering that usually the people who say that were even more sure about Iraq in 2003, I would expect some pretty solid proof.
Besides, what do you want the US to do about it, exactly? The Obama administration has been working towards harsher sanctions, which is about as far as you can go without bombs falling. And if you want the US to attack Iran, then we are talking a whole different ballgame from “they are a threat”.
IF an invasion of Iran is what you are recommending, three things must happen first.
We must end the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan by eliminating alQaeda and ensuring the safety of the Iraqi and Afghani people.
We must draft and train a whole new army because this one is burned out and Korea looms as a bigger and bigger threat. Of course they already have nuclear weapons so why bother with them? Oh, they don’t have oil!
We must enact taxes to pay for the war.
It is easy to stand apart from those who serve and make such recommendations when there is no sacrifice on your own.
Goldman Sachs is dirty and should be investigate for corruption. However, it was Obama that bailed out the banks in the first place. I mean, of course executives and investors are going to keep making risky investments if they know the government will keep bailing them out.
Stop interfering with the free market, let those who fail, fail, and stop regulating to death the whole industry. Business cycles come and go, but its usually when the government interferes that you have problems.
BTW, Goldman Sachs donated around a million dollars to Obama’s campaign. I’d bet the bank that they will get a special deal out of all of this.
And what is the plan on Iran? Bomb it? It’s not gonna happen because the US army is busy dealing with two chihuahuas in Afghanistan and Iraq instead of that pitt-bull in Teheran.
All that because of “he tried to kill my dad!”
Our best bet so far is to encourage the overthrow of the Iranian dictatorship by its own citizens.
How many neo cons encourage that?
I never suggested they were the only one, although they have been the worst.
How exactly are corporations “ripping” us off? The only
way that they can take our money, is if we voluntarily give it, or the government forces us to give them money to bail them out. So the real entity to fear is the government. And no, I think I fear a nuclear fallout much more than I do a corporation being corrupt.
@ corrosivefrog: I am absolutely for the Iranian citizens overthrowing their oppressive government. I feel like our government should have given them vocal support, instead of ignoring them like they did. I mean, they put their demonstration signs in English, of course they were looking for international support. But they certainly didn’t get any from us. A shame.
cc- eat food? ever hear of Cargill? Burn gas? Ever heard of Exxon Mobil- who make us pay through the nose while the do NOT pay royalties on the oil their sucking from Federal resources??

Do you really think this will lead to anything significant?

Of particular interest is the amount donated to Obama’s coffers.
If you’re sticking up for GS Lisa, I have to take exception to this cartoon.

I don’t think that Lisa is sticking up for Goldman Sachs. She’s just pointing out that Iran is the over-riding danger to the world.

I’ll believe it when I see it.

Goldman-Sachs was NOT the only company playing games, by any means. (p.s. both major parties were heavily funded by “Wall street”- so get over it.)
Corporations ripping us off at home, in many fields, are a much bigger threat to our security than Iran- even if they get “the bomb”.
