^^ Sorry kiddo.ISIS is Completely Barry’s fault and problem. They didn’t exist 5 years ago when Obama took office. They were formed when Islamic Jihadists saw that Barry was pulling out ALL troops out of Iraq. Barry wouldn’t(and still won’t) even call them Muslim Terrorists, instead a “JV Team” of a few knuckleheads.Btw here’s something for you…..58% of Democratic senators (29 of 50) voted for the resolution. Those voting for the resolution are:Sens. Lincoln (D-AR), Feinstein (D-CA), Dodd (D-CT), Lieberman (D-CT), Biden (D-DE), Carper (D-DE), Nelson (D-FL), Cleland (D-GA), Miller (D-GA), Bayh (D-IN), Harkin (D-IA), Breaux (D-LA), Mary Landrieu (D-LA), Kerry (D-MA), Carnahan (D-MO), Baucus (D-MT), Nelson (D-NE), Reid (D-NV), Torricelli (D-NJ), Clinton (D-NY), Schumer (D-NY), Edwards (D-NC), Dorgan (D-ND), Hollings (D-SC), Daschle (D-SD), Johnson (D-SD), Cantwell (D-WA), Rockefeller (D-WV), and Kohl (D-WI).

Had Saddam Hussein remained in place, Iraq would have remained a totalitarian regime like many in the region, but ISIS would have been unlikely to have gained a foothold and base in that country. By fighting a war on two fronts, Mr. Bush made the same mistake of Napoleon and Hitler, and by failing to finish and stabilize the region, he laid a broken foundation for any President who might have followed him. Mr. Obama was the one unfortunate enough to have that chance on top of a crippling recession and the most divisive Congress since the Civil War. One wonders how Mr. McCain would have faired, but only in a academic reflection. It is so sad we are allowing us to take on the risk and expense of conducting these conflicts when our financial opponents in Russia, China, and even Europe invest so little in blood or money. Perhaps we are winning battles, but our economy is losing the war.Respectfully,C.

Once the tribal playground bickering is over, something will be approved that will assure continuous war in our time and probably thereafter. Bush didn’t plan it this way, but America’s most productive industry is quickly becoming the Death and Destruction industry. Bush’s objective was more short sighted, and that was to control Iraq’s vast oil reserves, and we know how that turned out. The unintended consequence is continuous warfare with America providing all sides most of the weapons of war. The plan seems to be to invade, destabilize, foment religious conflict, and instigate regional tribal warfare. A most fortuitous boost for them was to have a ruthless group such as ISIS arise and publicly behead and burn captives. Nothing enables war propaganda more than innocent people paying the price in a most horrible way. It angered the Islamic population and enabled all to mobilize their people to escalate the death and destruction, but have the locals carrying out the ground war. It enabled the propagandists to frighten Americans into believing the fight was soon coming to America. America loves starting wars and providing hardware, but are uneasy about loss of American lives. This is perfect – have everyone fighting everyone else and stand on the sidelines supplying and enabling. The Congressional resolution, whatever form it eventual takes, will assure death and destruction for decades to come. And the American death and destruction industry grows rich, supported by the American people. If there is any hope for peace, it is that Obama would rather wind-down than escalate, but unfortunately he seems to be overruled.

I have to laugh at you guys. You are taking this so literally. The police can’t fly. Thus the “drone” is a car Obama is driving. Cars don’t have wings. I can’t believe I have to spell this out for you.For those who believe the war in Iraq was over oil, I challenge you to provide evidence that we have received oil from Iraq as a result of our liberating forces ousted Hussein. Your oil mantra is old and tired, and has been for 11 years now. And it’s not true.As to him taking war action, the issue I have with this is that it’s only getting to this point because he (grossly) underestimated the capabilities of ISIS. If he had not pulled our troops out of Iraq with such a blatant disregard for the vacuum it would create, ISIS would not have room to grow. And had he dealt with ISIS while they were manageable, then we wouldn’t have to engage in what will eventually be another full-scale war. It reveals how absolutely inept and short-sighted he is, and how dangerously and completely he has surrounded himself with “yes-men.”That being said, I am a part of many veterans’ groups, and I can tell you that many of us want to go over there and take care of the issue (using politically-correct terminology). As harsh and horrible as war is, we enlisted to fight… and to win. But if he dispatches troops to go to war, he damn well better ensure that we have the equipment to do our job.

Oh: My answer to the question of what we should have done in Iraq? We should have established a permanent duty station like we have in Germany. Al Asad air base was the perfect place for this, and the infrastructure was already in place. If we had left 20-40k combat troops in that centralized location, with airstirkes and QRF’s on standby, I can promise that ISIS wouldn’t have been able to grow like they have. They would have been restricted without even having to fire a single bullet.

denis: Clinton came closer to getting bin Laden than Bush did, because the missiles missed, and that was after an attack in Kenya, not New York City.
