For over two decades, pachyderms packed their trunks and handed us $12 trillion of it, and NOW it is suddenly “Unsustainable”??? Granted, gamblers are always thinking they can double down and make it back, but the current plans are putting a few bucks into buying some new brake pads. We still have to wait to see things slow down, no real skid marks laid down, but at least somebodies finally aware which pedal to push.

AN, that’s kinda old news… the numbers are practically the same since 2007. Where were you then with your anti-government rancor ;) ?

Mind you, with large outlets proclaiming the president is a Marxist, or Muslim, or not born in America, is it any surprise a lot of people are not happy with government ;) ?

Right, we should just let this Gov’t do whatever they want. They know what is best for us and they will take care of us. It’s only proper to disagree with and question Gov’t when a Republican is in office.

All the anti Bush/hate Bush/kill Bush/war criminia Bush rhetoric from the MSM and the left was ok right 4uk?

The Debt was unsustainable under Republicans too. This cartoon doesn’t say only Democrats spend too much but it does accurately reflect where we are going.

We (all of us) need to stop spending money we don’t have (private and public) and start living fically conservative lives. And that isn’t a message most American’s want to embrace because it means sacrifice and effort.

We have become a nation of fat, lazy, wastrils and it needs to stop. That means stopping: Wars that don’t accomplish anything, spending so much on propping up the indolent, eliminating areas of government better left to the private sector (Read here: NASA, prisons, etc.), reducing unnecessary laws that protect us from ourselves (Helmet laws, Drug laws, etc.).

I don’t dispute that the Bush administration helped dig us into this hole but that doesn’t mean that the Obama administration should continue the digging. Every president wants to spend more then the government takes in because the times are “Special” but all times are special. There is always some crisis going on and you know what: Maybe some of those that rely on the government to provide for their special need should get by with less: Less Farm Subsidies, Welfare, Law Enforcement, Parks, Education assistance, etc.

Amen, Kevin. You hit the nail on the head. The government is spending our kids’ and our grandkids’ money today on their pet projects.

“eliminating areas of government better left to the private sector (Read here: NASA, prisons, etc”

I’m pretty sure the USA is one of the very few (if not the only) modern country where the state doesn’t hold the prisons. I doubt that them being private-managed is so much better - or, eventually, cheaper. I guess I don’t like the idea of a private prisons lobby either :D .

Jade, I do seem to recall that President Bush had some of the lowest favorability numbers of any president ever, and surely you would agree that had to include a number of conservatives? He wasn’t conservative fiscally. I got tired of him, too.

4uk4ata, name one large outlet that claims Obama was not born in America. The question is why doesn’t he prove where he was born. Nobody knows for sure, not even you. He’s never produced a long-form birth certificate. He won’t even answer which hospital it was at, there have been two versions of the story.

Where was TEA? Considering taxes have not gone up and have actually hit the lowest point in 50 years, where were they 2 - 3 years ago?

“4uk4ata, name one large outlet that claims Obama was not born in America.”

    Fox News

“The question is why doesn’t he prove where he was born. ”

    He has. The end.

Interesting how the same people that claim Bush stole an election (even though he won the recount three times, as I recall) just tacitly accept that Obama is a natural-born citizen without a glance at a REAL Birth Certificate which, as those of us who were born in the USA know, includes hospital, attending physician, names of parents, etc….That thing ain’t a real birth certificate, so, no, it’s not “end of story”.

Where was the TEA under Bush? There were plenty of rumblings, but the problems aren’t just taxes, darling, the problem is the slide into socialism, with Government Motors, the “bailout” of big banks, the push for universal “healthcare”, the takeover of student loans, etc….it’s vast and it’s fast.

    “Baloney. Cite, please.”

As Think Progress has reported, Obama’s Hawaii birth certificate is widely available on the internet. FactCheck.org has also extensively researched the subject. Their conclusion: Born in the U.S.A. But Fox News has started reporting on birthers without noting the baselessness of their claims, and in ways that lend legitimacy to their efforts. With video. Fun fact, passing something along as valid without providing available information is promoting it. Investigate your sources, so you don’t end up doing stuff like this (Fox News) It’s a Bohr model of the atom.

    “the “bailout” of big banks”

TARP was enacted under Bush. There was plenty of time for TEA.

    “the push for universal “healthcare””

Again, Romney’s system seems to work for Republicans and Republicans love government mandates.

”, the takeover of student loans”

… What? The money comes from the government to begin with. How does “removing an extra layer of fat” from the process equal a “takeover.” It’s called a FAFSA (Free Application for FEDERAL Student Aid) for a reason.

^Fox Reports on lots of things that the MSM doesn’t. It is good to get news from a variety of sources/viewpoints. It is also good to differentiate news from commentators.

Tarp was enacted under Bush and most conservatives didn’t want it enacted.

Romney’s system doesn’t work with most Republicans. It is way over budget and depends on Federal funds to fund it.

The problem with removing the extra layer of fat from the student loans is that interest rates likely still won’t go down, and now the Federal Gov’t has more control over who can get the loans.
