Those indie horror games are like that! I play Five Nights At Freddy’s with my back to a wall to prevent that sort of frightening familial interruption.
That is why i prefer to sit where someone can not come up behind me. I get so engrossed in what I am doing, that somebody just saying, “Hy!” can cause my heart toskip a beat. And that is just me working on a drawing.
I now have Surround Headphones that do an excellent job of “noise-cancelling”, but previous sets would allow a lot of house noises in. So, quite often, I’d be in a game, and that darned refrigerator would start doing it’s “groaning” thing and I’d whirl around in the game, expecting an attack from the rear.Conversely, sometimes a game sound makes me think something just made a sound in the house and I’d whirl around for real! :-)
