Cartoons are on TV nonstop these days. When I was your age, cartoons were on TV on Saturday morning, and that was it! And what if you had other plans on a Saturday morning? You are out of luck. I never knew grandma had it so hard as a kid. Surprise the trauma didn't leave for scarred.

The good old days when Saturday mornings were really special. I looked forward to it every day of the school week.

Captain Kangaroo was on before school during the week, though. Sort of a Sesame Street prequel.

Agreed Mike.

Friendly Giant was on during the week. But Saturday morning cartoons were the best. Along with the KVOS-TV Saturday Movie Matinees.

When I was a kid, TV hadn’t been invented yet. Found all kinds of things to do to occupy ourselves.

It was 1953. I was 6 years old and we got our first TV. There were 2 channels, both in black and white. We all went to Birmingham to the Western Auto to buy it. That’s where I saw my first TV show. Howdy Doody. I still remember it. Clarabelle the Clown was throwing suitcases into a train boxcar, but the door was open on the other side and it just went through! Funny then to a 6yo!
