I never understood the reason for spurs. Comanches nor Scythians never used them and they were the best light cavalry in the history of the world.
I saw parents grocery shopping yesterday with kids on their shoulders. Seemed both odd and semi-dangerous to be bending down or reaching for things with a 30 lb shifting weight yoked to the neck.
