Ah the conundrum. Winston Churchill once wrote: “it has been said that democracy is the worst form of Government except for all those other forms that have been tried from time to time.…”. Without government – ideally elected in a truly democratic fashion – then the few rich and powerful lord over the many weak and poor. There will always be some form of government because wherever there are people, someone will take control and make decisions. That said, there are some things people simply should not have a choice about. They should not have the right to drive any way they want, ignoring traffic signs and lights. They should not have the right to take whatever they want from anyone who is weaker. They should not have the right to dump poisons into the drinking water of others. They should not have the right to lie about the ingredients of foods or medicines that they sell. Being in society means accepting certain restraints on personal liberties. So – government is inevitable. Just depends on what form. Here in the US we used to have a relative democracy. Now it’s an oligarchy.
Government is a necessity that requires the engagement of the governed to avoid getting bad government. For those who think that no government is the answer, I suggest that they move to Somalia
There is a massive difference between following advice based on scientific findings, accepted broadly and tested repeatedly, and “training the populace to blindly accept whatever the govt says.” If you are seriously claiming that government-sponsored vaccination and education efforts are the equivalent of Nazi propaganda, then your comparison simply fails at the gate. Lots of people knew the Nazis were full of it then; they were used by business leaders who thought they could get tax benefits and reduced government controls by backing the Nazis. So if you are going to make ridiculous comparisons between government initiatives and the Nazis, you picked the wrong party.
