Fashion trumps comfort, like walking around with your pants falling off.

My point is that wearing high heels is just as weird as wearing a hoodie or low-riding pants — actually worse, since it’s bad for the feet and legs. But we don’t criticize women for wearing high heels. (My wife refuses, and I don’t blame her.)

Most fads are considered moronic or gauche to others. (high heels on some women make them look as tho someone has kicked them in the rear.)I doubt if it matters to many whether you like it or not.

I am an engineer who also studied anatomy. High heels are a bad idea. I had a good laugh at the clown shoes women wore about a decade ago, but at least they were compatible with the human form.

As to the cartoon. As bad as it is and as far as we still have to go; it’s still a lot better than it used to be.
