There was once an episode of South Park that showed Mohammed as a sort of superhero; I’ve never heard about any death threats related to it.

A kitten is perfect. Muhammad liked cats. He once cut the sleeve off his favorite robe so he wouldn’t disturb his cat, Muezza, who was sleeping on it.

There is a story about a cat saving the Prophet’s life by attacking an assailant wielding a knife. Mohammed, in gratitude, placed his hand on the cat’s head & blessed he or she, giving cats special protection among his followers. Also, Aicha, his last wife, wrote several hadiths defending cats, allowing them to drink water reserved for ablutions, sleeping on prayer rugs etc.

Cats are also known to wake believers before dawn for the morning prayers. In return, the believer leaves them an offering of food, as that is only fair.

So Mohammad with a catvatar should be OK.

The M on a tabby’s face is supposed to be the mark of Mo’s touch., or so I heard somewhere.

@Sherlock Watson – there were actually THREE story lines in South Park where Mohammed factored into them and all garnered reactions of some sort, although obviously nothing to the level of the threats in Europe. The first was the episode, Super Best Friends where Mohammed was actually depicted with other religious icons like Christ, Joseph Smith, and Buddha. The episode, Cartoon Wars was in response to the threats against Danish cartoonists. Trey and Matt went forward with the episodes despite threats as they felt to do otherwise would by hypocritical. Comedy Central eventually aired the episode with a black title card during the Muhammad sequence, censoring the depiction. The last episode was 200 which mocked the network for their change in policy in the previous example. Safe to say that if they (Matt and Trey) were to do it in today’s heated environment, there would be a TON of concern and debate!

BTW, while you CAN purchase Cartoon Wars on ITunes, you CANNOT purchase Super Best Friends or 200.

How about a human figure that has small horns on its head, a tail that has an arrow head at it’s tip and it is holding a trident.

Is it not simply an image when seen on the computer. It only becomes graven when published on paper, and even then few newspapers use intaglio today.

    Wiki sez:

“Engraving was a historically important method of producing images on paper in artistic printmaking, in mapmaking, and also for commercial reproductions and illustrations for books and magazines. It has long been replaced by various photographic processes in its commercial applications and, partly because of the difficulty of learning the technique, is much less common in printmaking, where it has been largely replaced by etching and other techniques.”

Yeah, religion is almost as bad as nationalism when it comes to murder.
