Everything is “oishii” in Japan. Wait until the teacher thinks she’s out of sight, and then watch what she does…

@Khalid BirdsongI think that it means “delicious”, Khalid. Please correct me if I’m wrong. (I hope the teacher is being sincere rather than polite. But then, my Japanese friends are a lot like Kenji and Tomoko from the mainstream comic, so I’m not used to the polite two-facedness.)

Slightly off-topic, perhaps, but girl idol group Momoiro Clover teamed up with Kiss. The video was posted to youtube on Jan. 19th and already has over 1 million views. If Tanuki were to play one of the characters in the video, which one would it be?This is how KISS says “oishii”.

Good Video! And yes, it looked as if KISS wasn´t even there. If not for the final scene I would swear they didn´t even leave the US to do the video. The anime parts reminded me a lot of Kill la Kill, maybe were made by Gainax?

About 5-6 years ago, I was at MOS Burger. Their placemat sheets were more informative and entertaining back then, and one specific sheet asked the question, “How do people across Japan say ‘our food is sugoku oishii’?” The answers were given by workers at shops in 28 cities throughout the country. Ignoring pronunciation differences due to local dialects, the answers fell into 2 categories: adjective + oishii, and adjective + umai. The adjectives were variations on “sugoi” and “muchakucha”.
