Interesting analogy. Sony’s actions were a blow to freedom of expression, but then again Hollywood has been selling itself to one political party or another for years. The best part is we’ll see a major motion picture soon which dramatizes the event. I’m curious to see how Hollywood tries to spin it.
This is not over yet. The Sony president had a good point when he said that it was the theater owners that caved. Sony can’t force them to do something they don’t want to do. The really big issue is cyber warfare. North Korea effectively attacked the US. They also have nukes. The problem is how can we effectively make them pay so they won’t be tempted to do it again. And an even bigger issue is Cyber security in general. The situation gets worse everyday. It is just a matter of time until something really bad happens. Most of our infrastructure and finances are on computers these days.
Interesting note on the Joe McCarthy book, and the old “Blacklist” that Hollywood put out, and two of the biggest finks were Walt Disney (Disney Corp now owns ABC) and Ronald Reagan (GE is our friend, and was his!). I met a couple of those blacklist folks many years ago, and they were NOT Communists, or sympathizers, but like so many we threw into Guantanamo, their “friends” turned them in on lies, but the impact was done.
Robert Landers and CWR – Not beingfacetious – Disney’s early career remindsme of Hillary Clinton having started outworking for Barry Goldwater. People area lot more complicated than the iconicimages they or we invent for them.As for Betty Boop ( how’s that for a hardsegway ? ) some pretty raw stuff for backthen. " St. James Infirmary" sung by CabCalloway – holy --.
Just for the sake of discussion….. On the off-chance that N.Korea wasn’t behind the hack, then who? Sony? Russia? China? The U.S.(NSA,CIA,FBI,- how many more three letter names should I include?) A group of third-rate hackers around the world? Sony… Oops, I already said that one.
