For some reason before I read this through I thought they were actually at a church. Both kinda look like they oughta be in their Sunday best. And yes, I know this isn’t a Sunday strip, the first Peanuts Sunday strip was January 6, 1952 and we’re still in ’51 (July 14, 1951 so that makes this a Saturday strip actually)
The apron gives it away. I know the feeling. My school friends got to spend Saturdays riding bikes, watching TV, running around and playing. I got to spend Saturdays cleaning, running the washer, and preparing Sunday’s dinner.
I can remember working with my father a few times, I am sure it took him twice as much energy to find a little something for me to do on the job with him as it would have taken him to just leave me home. But it made me feel so special then and still makes me feel so good now – thanks dad
