I know a lot of people who have nothing to say, and talk all the time. They’ll even shout you down.

I think that children should be taught proper speaking as soon as they learn to talk. A huge hot button for me is when a child mispronounces a word so that it sounds “bad” (think “Truck”) and their parents laugh and encourage it…then, when the mispronunciation continues as they get older, all of a sudden it becomes a problem.

Sure you can! You just did! You said “I never can think of anything to say!”

Yes indeed! Everyone living in the USA should speak clear, understandable English!

When I was six I had a very slight speech impediment. When I said “three” it came out sounding like “free.” Fine with my family and their friends, not so fine with my Grade 1 teacher who made my life a living hell until I said “three” in a way that she thought it should sound. To this day I can name all of my elementary school teachers (1-8) except for my grade 1 teacher and my grade 4 teacher (who was a real witch in a different way).
