So much for a kid to try out bowling.

I only managed to catch the candlepin place in Agawam open one time, despite their posted hours. It would have been perfect for my daughter’s abilities at the time. Now I have to work to win one out of two games on a given weekend.

I cannot get my nieces to roll the d*mn ball— even the 12-yo will just stand and swing it a few times, then drop it from 2 feet up. Wonder why the ball weaves as it goes down the lane? All the potholes.

Was this the first time that a characters says “rats!”? It would be an oft repeated word over the run of the strip.

Dennis the Menace explaining a strange round object to Joey: “That’s a bowling ball. You roll it down an alley and then you holler, ‘Oh, no!’”

Years ago, I golfed and bowled. If I could reverse my scores, I would be good at both games…

When my daughter was little, I took her bowling. She was growing tired by the weight of the ball, so she set the ball down at the line and gave it a hard kick. She was quite pleased at how fast the ball moved.

There was a duck pin place on Pensacola Beach back in 1964. The only one I ever saw.
