TV: Look, daddy! The teacher says, "every time a bell rings, an angel gets his wings!"
Fang: Uh-oh.
Eno: I think Bedford Falls elementary school is going to get hit with a big ACLU lawsuit.
Unicornstar: this is a reference to a much loved film, It’s A Wonderful Life. The main character, George Bailey, is shown what his community would be like if he had never been born. An angel named Clarence helps him, and tells him that “Every time a bell rings, an angel is awarded his or her wings.” At the end of the movie, George’s little girl says the same thing after hearing a little bell ring. George knows that this means his friend Clarence has finally gotten his wings.
This film is shown every year at Christmas time in the US. It is something of a holiday tradition.
RE: the alleged “war on Christmas” – this is a bunch of troublemakers just looking for a reason to complain. People have been saying Happy Holidays for decades, and no one minded. Now this ultra conservative faction is trying to make it EXclusive instead of INclusive. As a family that celebrates any holiday with good will and good food, I find the whole thing ridiculous.
I still don’t get why something called ACLU would sue an imaginary school set in the old movie “Its a Wonderful Life:”and what is ACLU? Why does it not have a sense of humour or even common sense?

Unless, of course, you say “Merry Christmas” in the wrong place and get sued for it.

Explain, please, why the ACLU would file a lawsuit against an imaginary school because a student came home and made that statement.

The ACLU defends the rights only of those who undermine society.
