There’s definitely some cognitive dissonance going on there. Particularly when you consider that, back in the day, both Reagan and Bush Sr. used their executive authority to keep immigrant families together.

Our prisons are filled with people who are also parents. No sob stories for their kids! At least the illegals can take theirs with them [in the unlikely event they’re ever deported, that is].

I found a great word to describe the commentators here, “fissiphiles”, those afflicted with “fisslmaia”. It explains a lot.In plain, regional jargon, picking s%$# with the chickens. indiethink and agristic should team with a cartoonist and develop their own strip. They’d make some money & wouldn’t need Lalo as a catalyst. Just random thoughts, no warranty expressed or implied… Enjoy the Exercise…

American voting patterns never cease to amaze me. Given W’s $3 trillion unfunded war on Iraq we should expect the Republicans to be done in. I guess the religious right and the moneyed folks keep the GOP alive. Strange bedfellows.

Hey sue-can Why the Bible is god given words and not my rants? I too had a divine revelation in the Chihuahuan Desert and my god wrote in the shifting sands.

I guess no one remembers how Dan Quayle was raked over the coals by Democrats when he publicly praised “family values.”

Dan Quayle was raked over the coals for a lot of things. And his über-conservative brand of “family values” is what earned him non-plaudits from folks who were not his brand of conservative. Basically, he was the Rick Santorum of his time, while his party did, and still does screw working families over.

In any case, the term “family values” is itself mighty squishy, since pretty much everyone has ‘em, and pretty much always has. They’re just all different. But what’s really being pointed out here is that Republicans loudly proclaim they’re the party of family values, while hypocritically doing all sorts of stuff to break families up and otherwise make life as difficult for the vast majority of families in this country.

I’m not a good candidate. My comment was too general & didn’t attack anyone. I’m recognizing that there is no position that you could take without an opposing or picky, reply from agrestic and vice versa. sueamarlucan has joined the daily fray with multiple comments. The byplay just keeps rolling on…

Being a Democrat doesn’t make one automatically a Liberal or a Progressive.

And we have a whole raft of Democratic politicians who emphatically prove that point. Bob McCulloch, Joe Manchin, Andrew Cuomo, etc., etc., etc.

@Lalo, now that the USA and Cuba have patched up isn’t it time to send back (repatriate) all of those Republican Cubans

@sue-can, It is humanly impossible to determine who the REAL god is but we have to thank the Mormons for demonstrating that even the most absurd beliefs find followers. Besides Christianity only became legit in 313 with the Edict of Milan by that mother-pecked Emperor Constantine.

“They’re just all different.”-Once again, Agrestic is emphasizing that everything is just an interpretation.

There are interpretations, and there are misinterpretations. And here, you’re engaging in the latter. Pretty willfully, at that. It seems the “interpretation” bug has lodged itself firmly in your noggin and taken up residence, kicking back in the La-Z-Boy it set up for itself in your parietal lobe and watching reruns of Walker, Texas Ranger.

Ah, but according to you, misinterpretations are just as valid as interpretations.

Citation, please. Oh, right, you won’t be able to find that, because I never said that misinterpretations are “just as valid.” But hey, have fun making stuff up!

If everything requires an interpretation ( Agrestic has said, “Communication is all about interpretation. Even the simplest of sentences—”See Spot run"—requires interpretation of every single word."), then a so-called misinterpretation could be someone’s interpretation that someone else interpreted a different way.

A misinterpretation is something someone else interpreted a different way. But the rub here is that it is a wrong interpretation. So as much as you’ve decided to chase your own tail down the rabbit hole of caricatured postmodernism, your whole interpretation of what I was saying about interpretation is, in fact, wrong. But who am I to deny you your fun in your poorly constructed hall of mirrors?

“Citation, please.”-No, thank you.I have a policy of not getting stuck in a Pitch Infant’s mire simply to supply her with a feeling of control.

That’s because there is none that you can come up with. But once again you’re simply unable or unwilling to admit that you’re wrong, and instead come up with some lame excuse—one that you prove in your very next post you can’t even follow. Hilarious!

You did not disappoint. You validated my comment by picking at several points in my comment instead of simply stating a level of agreement or not. Ya’ll enjoy what’s left of the day…

Again, Agrestic and Night-Gaunt have been threatened enough by INDIETHINK! to spew vitriol and spend loads of time trying (unsuccessfully) to dampen my spirits.

Hoo boy, does someone have an inflated sense of self-importance!
