We had a Shetland Sheep dog mix once. I was more afraid of the storms than she was. Even if it was pouring & I didn’t want to go out- she did. Only once it really was raining so hard she waited the few minutes til it let up SLIGHTLY, thne said okay it’s bearable now.
My dog Clancy (1998-2011) was terrified of storms, but never made a puddle. As he got older, Benadryl no longer worked, and he’d just pace around, toenails clicking on the tile and linoleum, and shiver and shake until the storm passed. Joining his masters under the covers or being held didn’t help either. With the benefit of hindsight, I should have asked the vet for some doggie tranquilizers.
I was working on a farm one summer. They told me the dog they had was not friendly to strangers and to look out . He was also scared silly of thunder. One evening a big thunderstorm rolled in. The dog came and crawled under my chair for safety. I reached down and scratched his ears and petted him during the booming and flashing.

Our dogs were usually underfoot, except when a storm was coming. None of them piddled on the floor, but they would head for the basement.
