    1) You forgot to mention the man he appointed head of the FCC was an industry lobbyist.2) While I agree with your comment, it would have been more affective without the name calling.

The question is, do we want to be able to access everything on the Internet, the way it has always been (net neutrality), or do we want to be able to access only what our ISPs think we should be allowed to access (non-net neutrality).

I can’t imagine why people would like Comcast. They raise prices every year, they sell a collection of bundles rather than what you want, and they are rapidly buying up companies to become even a bigger monopoly. In most cases, there really is no second provider so you are stuck with their service. The last mile should be regulated as a utility so the content providers would have to compete for your subscription dollar.

opednance: But Jase99’s point still stands. Obama appointed a telecom industry lobbyist, Tom Wheeler, to the FCC. Hens, meet fox (or should that be Fox?). And the only opposition came from Republicans, apparently because they were worried he wasn’t sufficiently fervent in support of their policies. I have to wonder why neither Elizabeth Warren nor Bernie Sanders voted against him.

The “Rs” have now taken drag racing a step further, shfting at speed from “R” for race, to “P” for partisan progress. Just ignore the fluid and shattered metal on the road.

FOX NEWS has admittted themselves (and even some of their supporters here have also admitted) that they are not, and do not want to be, an actual NEWS channel. They want to be an entertainment channel. And NEWS itelf (unless it is something seriously negative like Ebola) is not entertaining.

So, if I wish actual NEWS or even impartial analysis of actual NEWS, I must go anywhere but FOX, so called NEWS. I have found one of the best for that to be the BBC NEWS. If I want entertainment, I can go to netflix, or even World of Warcraft!!

“The source of the article is the FCC, as in the Federal Communications Commission.”Who’s leader is a former industry lobbyist. Exactly how is Net Neutrality “a tax”?

But the cable companies are effectively double dipping. Content providers already pay for a certain bandwidth to get their content into the Internet, and I pay for a certain bandwidth to receive the Internet content. The cable companies want to make providers also pay for me to receive their content at the bandwidth I already pay for.

china has net neutrality. The government decides what internet traffic gets throttled or blocked altogether.
