Except that it has. The average global temperature has been decreasing for the past decade, the ice caps are expanding, & Manhattan isn’t underwater, like it was predicted it would be by 2015 if we didn’t act now. That was about 30 years ago with the 1st global warming paranoia, er, I mean report to the UN.
This ‘toon made me chuckle, then weep, understanding that “Big Nerd” doesn’t stand of chance, no matter how many times he tries to explain the real world, to the pre-school intellect and knowledge base of the average voter, or right-wing member of the House and Senate.
The constant attacks in blog sites like this one, and in the media, and rightest-wingnut circles, on anything requiring education, or an open minded view of facts, is tragic. Our nation is dropping in rankings on so many measures, all because intelligence and facts have become irrelevant to politics, or any discussion, is a tragedy seen nowhere else, except maybe North Korea. (Hmm, and even they listened up and released the prisoners, which I did find interesting Obama’s Freudian slip, when he let out “hostages”. Even negotiatons we may not like, are preferable to continuous drumbbeats for war.)
I know, but for some reason I keep trying. Partly I want to satisfy my own curiosity. What did the first IPCC actually say? Could they possible have said that Manhattan would be underwater by now? Let’s find out!! One minute of searching and there’s the answer!! Gosh, that wasn’t hard, now was it?+(I’m reading Micheal Mann’s The Hockey Stick and the Climate Wars at the moment, and he goes through the gradual development of climate science since the 1980s, and he makes it clear that the initial assessments were in fact very cautious, not at all what FishDog claims.)
