When I was a child, my parents had a rule that we couldn’t come out of our rooms on Christmas morning until my father gave the signal. Since there were 7 of us, that made a lot of sense. They DID set their alarm to some rediculously early hour so as not to make us wait TOO long. His signal was to stand at the foot of the stairs and, in his big, deep voice, call out “HO HO HO!” Today I’m going to have my daughters call him so that he can “HO HO HO” them..

When I was a kid my room was so cold my parents had to drag me out on Christmas morning because the bed was the only warm spot in the room; it had heat but it was shared with an older brother next door and he had his louver open all the way which blocked mine shut.

We dragged out the suspense on our family. We had a leisurely breakfast before opening the presents. I don’t know how I restrained myself in those days!

Merry Christmas to everyone. While others open gifts so my goodness early your Christmas is over with. Ours will be getting started. Enjoy your day. Our children are adults we open in afternoon so we enjoy and relax. Prepare food, company coming, eat, open gifts, relax enjoy a DVD Christmas movie needs to be funny, and then drive looks at lights. Christmas is all day for us.

My mom would use a secret code on our presents, so we’d have to wait until she was available to hand them out, because we couldn’t tell which gift went to whom. I did the same thing during the years when my sons were a bit too anxious.
